Igorrr feat. Ruby My Dear - "Maigre" (2014) EP Review by SSE

Hello, everybody! Jesús Ernesto Vasquez here, bringin' to you another album review. This time... it's another album from Igorrr. WAIT, it's not an ordinary album, it's an EP with the collaboration of producer Ruby My Dear.

It looks like a new promising production made by the craziest priest of Breakcore with Metal: Gautier Serre!

Alright, this is the playlist:

1. "Barbecue"
2. "Figue Folle"
3. "Cuisse"
4. "Alain"
5. "Biquette"

1rst POINT: Style

Well... it's obvious, we'll find heavy elements on the pieces. BUT... featuring Ruby My Dear. But... there's something we need to say about the EP. Ruby My Dear puts some kind of "Brutal Dubstep" style in the pieces, then Igorrr puts Baroque and Folk elements. We can clealy listen to it on "Barbecue". But that's not all, they fusion their knowledge to make a super-complex drum pattern on the songs. There are so many effects. SO MANY EFFECTS. But it sounds insanely good!

2nd POINT: Sound

We listened to normal fusions of Baroque music with Breakcore... but now... it's different. The element that will put brutality on the sound is... Electronica elements. Yeah! It's not only the Black Metal guitars. This time, the drums and the effects play an important character in the album, because they have disto and high tempo style. There's a big influence of Glitchcore in the album, it's the reason that explains why we can hear even more noise.

3rd POINT: Strange sounds and Feelings on the pieces

Um... this EP contains some macabre sounds. And here's a list about some of them.

- On "Figue Folle"... a piano sounds slowly while a man says something in french... I don't know what is he saying. Also, we can hear a baby screaming, Oh! and there's a sample from "Pallbearer" from Igorrr VS. Bong Ra.

- On "Cuisse", we can sense some sadness in the strings at the begining, just before the Glitch explosion. There's some kind of sad feeling in the piece.

- On "Alain", the piano makes the entire piece sound misterious. But that's not all. Later, we can hear... a man screaming, breathing and making strange noises, like being tortured or having a mental disease. It's creepy.

- Finally, on "Biquette"... the entire sounds make a depressive feeling. There's something that makes you feel like that: the tunning. The piece is tunned on G# minor. This key is used to represent disgrace and insanity in some songs.

FINAL OPINION:

...This EP... is... CHAOTICLY IMPRESSIVE. You seriously need to listen to the entire EP. There are no words to describe how good it is. Igorrr! Congratulations! You and Ruby My Dear created the craziest EP ever!
